Misty Philbrick

Community Relations Director

Misty’s brings years of senior living experience in positions ranging from caregiver to administrative assistant to area manager. Aside from her direct experience, she was also a Health Educator at another community and still volunteers to educate people on behalf of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Misty is extremely dedicated to clearing up misconceptions about life with dementia. However, that’s not the only reason she’s at Canyon Creek. “I love the hugs and smiles I get every day I come to work,” she says.

Katelen Perfili

Activities Director

Katelen started at Canyon Creek as a CNA back in 2007. By the following year, her hard work and dedication earned her the Memory Care Activities Coordinator. She took on her current role in 2011. Her goal has always been to work with seniors. That’s why she began volunteering in senior living communities in high school where, among other tasks, she would call bingo.

Regarding Canyon Creek, she says, “I love coming to work every day to see the residents. They bring so much joy into my life.”

Joseph D. Smith

Director of Dining Services

Joseph brings over 20 years of cooking experience to Canyon Creek. He has worked at fine restaurants, hotels, country clubs, catering companies and other communities like ours. Thanks to Joseph, the menu at Canyon Creek is anything but bland. As a graduate of the California Culinary Academy of San Francisco, he takes great pride in creating meals that are both nutritious and delicious. Joseph also takes time to speak with residents and get their feedback. From day one, he has strived to create dishes that make mealtime something residents always look forward to.

Nick Mitchell

Building Services Manager

Before starting with us, Nick served in the Navy for five years. After that, he was a licensed electrician for six years. Nick has also been a sub-contractor, an apartment complex maintenance man and even a police officer. Although he brings a number of talents to the table, Nick cites improving the quality of life for residents of our community as his favorite part of the job. “I love being able to help residents at Canyon Creek with what seem like the most difficult tasks to them.”

Cheryl Rodriguez

Business Office Manager

Cheryl has been with us for 15 years and has held a number of positions during this time. Before coming to Canyon Creek, she worked in home health and rehab and spent two years helping those with Alzheimer’s. As a mother of seven, Cheryl definitely understands the importance of family. She loves that her role means interacting with residents on a daily basis, but also getting to know their families too. “There is always something different and new to learn and new people to meet.”

Randi Wilson

Tailored Preferences Coordinator

Randi has seemingly been preparing to work at her “dream job” since she was a child. As a young girl, Randi would spend her summers going to work with her grandparents; she had a grandmother who worked as an LPN at a senior living community in Idaho. There, Randi would deliver mail to the residents, play the piano with them and participate in bingo (though her grandma made her return any winnings in exchange for a Moon Pie from the vending machine). Along with her work at Canyon Creek, Randi has added a master’s in Professional Communication from Westminster College to her bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting and Public Relations. She also minored in Sociology.

What Alzheimer's and Dementia Care Means at Canyon Creek

  • It means providing education to residents and their families about Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia.

Memory Care at Canyon Creek is designed to provide for the wellbeing of our residents so their lives don’t have to revolve around dementia. Our staff is dedicated to providing residents things like bathroom assistance, help with personal hygiene and grooming, housekeeping and various life enrichment programs in a caring, dignified environment.
