We understand that caring for an aging loved one who is facing memory loss can be stressful, and at times, confusing. That’s why our Illuminations™ Memory Care Program provides a safe and nurturing space for our residents to thrive. Our caregivers receive special training, using the latest research to provide the best level of care. Our program balances social bonding, engaging activities, a personalized approach, and independence.
We also welcome and encourage family involvement. Families of residents get access to the resources and tools they need to better understand and cope with the impact of dementia and Alzheimer’s. To get a better idea about our approach to memory care, be sure to check out our community blog, which includes features on how to improve communication with seniors affected by dementia, in addition to how we “flex our brains” through fun games and memory-enhancing activities.
Our senior care team will work with you and your aging loved one to find the best fit. We offer a full suite of eldercare services for every stage of life. Does your senior want to keep a great deal of independence? Or, are they facing dementia and need more intensive care? It's their care, their way, and we can design a senior care plan to meet almost any need.
Our Salt Lake City, UT senior living community offers care options that include assisted living, respite care, and memory care. Residents can transition between lifestyle options as their needs or preferences change.
We're here to help. Speak with one of our senior care specialists to discuss the best option for your senior loved one, or take our senior lifestyle surveyto help you better assess your eldercare needs.
On-site at our Salt Lake City, UT community, we have a 24-hour awake staff, ADL assistance, and medication care managers. On-call, we also have LPNs, doctors, occupational, speech, and physical therapists available. We do understand, however, that some residents need to see specialists outside of the Canyon Creek Senior Living campus.
As a part of our services and amenities, we provide transportation to medical appointments. Our community-owned luxury sedans and multi-passenger vans make for safe and easy transportation.
The answer to this question is complex and can be very personal. We offer a wide variety of resources to help you decide if you or your senior loved one is ready for assisted living. While there are many signs that a loved one may be ready for assisted living, several key questions to consider are:
- Are they isolated or lonely?
- Do they need help preparing meals, or need to be reminded to eat?
- Are they staying adequately hydrated, or do they need to be reminded to drink enough water?
- Do they have mobility issues that put them at greater risk for a fall?
- Do they need help bathing or dressing?
- Have they been recently hospitalized or are you noticing any unexplained bruises or injuries, indicating recent falls?
- Do they remember to take their prescribed medication?
These are just a few questions to ask when considering the transition into assisted living, and our senior care staff is more than happy to discuss your questions and concerns in more detail. If you’re not sure if assisted living is right for you, but want to give it a try, Canyon Creek Senior Living also offers short-term respite care as a way to introduce potential residents to our assisted living program, determining if it’s a good fit.
Yes! We are a pet-friendly senior living community. In fact, we’ve written a blog post about the healing benefits of pet therapy for seniors, featuring a touching story about our beloved community pet, Molly. We believe that pets are life-enriching creatures, and always encourage our residents to keep their pets with them upon moving in as a resident of Canyon Creek Senior Living. Additional fees or restrictions may apply, but we are happy to discuss these options with you.
